The maintenance work when compared to a conventional set is negligible; the same physical space can be used for multiple productions and even a studio no bigger than 3X3 meters can have a big market look. Using advanced modeling and authoring capabilities for set creation removes the boundaries of conventional set design, making the imagination of the artist the only constraint.

One of the key foundations of a virtual studio is the camera tracking technology. Precise camera tracking ensures a perfect match between the real and the virtual world, and Orad offers a range of different camera tracking solutions, each with its specific advantages. Orad`s Pattern Recognition tracking is undoubtedly the simplest tracking system available. With Pattern Recognition the camera parameters are extracted from the video signal itself, eliminating the need for any physical installation on the camera. Orad`s Sensor based tracking offers an extremely accurate tracking and 360º shooting range. Whenever cranes, handheld or steady cam are needed, then Orad`s Xpecto infrared tracking comes into play, providing camera tracking capabilities in all dimensions.

Orad Virtual studio offers a comprehensive graphics solution. On top of the background graphics of the virtual studio, foreground graphics such as supers, tickers, OTSs and any other type of graphics can be generated and sent to air from the same system, providing a total graphics package. Furthermore, the virtual studio can be integrated into a larger setup, interfacing with external data sources, and even integrate into a newsroom environment.

It is also possible to work with either a single channel configuration or in a multi channel environment, in which a dedicated channel is assigned to each camera.

The transition from SD to HD sets new challenges for Virtual studio production. Relaying on Orad`s HDVG rendering platform Orad supports all HD formats, can provide multiple HD video insertions to the set, and can even mix between HD and SD video sources.
