Maestro Product Information

Integrated workflow

Maestro provides a complete workflow that meets all the graphics needs of TV stations and production houses including: news, branding, studio productions, OB-vans, editing, and post production - all on a single graphics platform and integrated with the most commonly used news, automation and editing systems.

Modular and scalable architecture

Maestro suite can provide an adapted workflow to any situation, thanks to its modular architecture that allows a customized workflow that fits each specific broadcaster’s needs. The whole system is fully scalable, allowing a seamless expansion of Maestro suite’s usage to other areas of production.

Flexible, intuitive and easy to operate

Maestro optimizes graphics control in any environment, from a manual character generator operation recalling page numbers, to a broadcast with rundowns created manually or received via MOS, or an automated broadcast controlled by a 3rd party device.

Several render channels can be controlled simultaneously, optimizing the studio operation, while multiple Maestro controllers can control a single render channel, enabling users to share graphic capabilities in complex productions, without adding new graphic channels.

Maestro’s local preview can be used for checking graphics, animation and data prior to being sent to air

Advanced timeline and smart logic

The smart logic mechanism allows the easy creation of advanced logic for playout, based on current status and predefined rules. This allows playout rules to be defined, ensuring that data and animation are always displayed properly, regardless of the playout order.

Innovative controls and macros

Maestro allows low level control of templates for advanced users, without adding extra complexity for the most common tasks. The macro mechanism enables the creation of custom made sequence of commands to automate recurring tasks. This allows, for example, changing the graphic project used in a show or to perform complicated data operations with just one click of a button.

Dynamic scene blending

Maestro’s dynamic scene blending architecture allows the triggering of multiple graphic scenes at the same time. Each scene is treated as an independent layer and is combined on-the-fly to form a single output channel.

Solid graphic asset management

Maestro can work as a standalone system or in a multi system environment where a complete graphic asset management (GAM) provides essential tools for cooperative workflow across all applications; including ingest, cataloguing, automatic proxy generation, basic video editing, custom metadata creation, search, and user rights management.

Advanced ticker control

Multiple tickers can be displayed with control over speed, number of loops, content updates, etc, via drag and drop. The ticker content can be introduced manually or extracted from external databases. RSS feeds and SMS messages are also supported. Ticker behavior can be provided “intelligence”, to allow conditional playout of different contents depending on the context.

Data sources connection wizard

The Maestro database query tool offers intuitive drag and drop data connection capabilities to data sources such as MS SQL, ODBC, Excel, Access, text files, RSS feeds, XML and more, eliminating the need for any scripting knowledge. Each exported parameter in the scene can be pumped with information from an external database without any limit on data streams in the scene. The data connection tool is set for easy manipulation and filtering of the data.

News producer plugin - smooth MOS integration with newsroom systems

Maestro can be integrated to newsroom systems. When linked to a newsroom system, access to the published templates is done from within the newsroom system itself. Journalists can browse or search templates, enter relevant data for the story, preview it on their workstation –including real time data and animations- and add it to the newsroom system’s rundown. Once updated, a mirrored rundown within Maestro Controller is automatically updated as well. ENPS, iNews, Octopus, Dalet, Open Media, NorCom, Sobey and Dayang are some of the supported newsroom systems.

NLE plugin

With Orad’s NLE plugin, graphic templates from Maestro can be used within an NLE system without any modifications, providing a unified look for both real-time and post production items. Avid, Apple FC and GV Aurora can be used as supported editing suites.

Controllable by automation systems

Maestro can be triggered manually or remotely by automation systems such as Ross Overdrive, Avid's Control Air, Harris, Snell Morpheus, Pebble Beach, Pharos, SGT, etc in both studio and MCR environments.

Powerful 3D graphics capabilities

Maestro relies on Orad’s HDVG real-time 3D graphics rendering, multiple HD/SD live video feeds, ClipPlay providing the rendering of multiple simultaneous clips independently of their format, and security options such as redundant power supply, optional raid system disk and mechanical bypass, that warrant a safe playout in sensible environments. Orad’s HDVG runs on Linux OS, for improved stability and performance.

Integration to Orad’s solutions

Maestro’s workflow can seamlessly be combined with other Orad products like ProSet, PowerWall, 3DWeather, Stereographics, and Morpho 3D, while still maintaining its operational workflow and integration to Newsroom systems.
