Powerful, intuitive and flexible
ProSet enables flexibility both for graphic design modifications as well as for operation. During the design and operation stages graphic rundowns are created by simply dragging and dropping the graphic items into a playlist. A local preview including both graphics and animation from the relevant studio camera’s perspective is available prior to going on air.
ProSet includes a set of tools that address the specific needs of virtual studio productions such as positioning the virtual set graphics in the studio, masking, and more. When working with Ultimatte 11 chromakey, ProSet supports two independent alpha channel outputs which enable the insertion of semitransparent foreground objects into the set.
Lighting shaders and reflections
ProSet offers an extensive variety unique real-time HD/SD depth of field shaders that enhance production.
With Orad’s depth of field shader, the virtual background focuses and defocus depending on the rate of zoom, exactly as it would have had it been a real background. Orad offers other shaders, such as real-time video shaders, that are applied to the incoming video insertions. Bump, displacement and cubic mapping, which provides a realistic reflection on objects, ensure the highest level of photorealism.
In addition to shaders, real-time lighting and shadows effects can be simulated on the computer and altered at will. Scene objects can be set as Shadow Projectors (the light source), Shadow Casters and Shadow Receivers, which provide infinite points enabling parallel shadows for increased realism.
Real-time material shaders
Orad’s material shaders allow designers to realize real-time realistic graphic effects that were not possible before. With up to 100 different styles of material, photorealistic surfaces can be created without investing time in texturing in external modeling applications. The shaders are available in multiple material categories, including; brick, ceramic, glass, metallic, mosaic, plastic, stone and wood.

ProSet relies on Orad’s 3Designer authoring software to retrieve bitmap files from composting applications such as Adobe Photoshop while retaining the original layer and blending structure. Each element is retrieved as a 3Designer file, permitting per layer manipulation and animation. A "merge" mode also allows importing all Photoshop layers and retrieves them as a single 3Designer layer.
ProSet provides powerful tools for interfacing with 3D modeling software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya and Softimage. Using either the VRML or Collada formats, 3D models along with their animations, textures and materials can be imported, enabling sets that were previously either impossible to build, too complex or just too expensive to manufacture.
While designing a virtual set, mask objects can easily be created by having fill disabled / alpha enabled objects, placing a virtual object in front of either the talent or real props in the virtual set. ProSet allows the option of blending the objects as part of the scene or creating a different scene which will be enabled while playing the scene from ProSet's controller.
Dynamic scene blending
ProSet implements a unique dynamic scene blending architecture. This architecture allows triggering of multiple graphic scenes at the same time using the same system. A virtual background can be generated from one scene while foreground objects such as lower third and tickers can be generated from an additional scene. Both can be then combined into one unified output channel even though generated from independent scenes, providing a total graphic solution.
Camera tracking capabilities
Orad offers a full range of camera tracking solutions that address any production need or budget. ProSet can utilize either the Pattern Recognition tracking system, CamTrack for free camera movement, mechanical sensor tracking systems, and Xync infrared tracking system for free camera movement.
ProSet supports all types of broadcast cameras, lenses and tripods. Multiple camera configurations are easily integrated with no reliance on 3rd party technologies. ProSet offers a 360-degree shooting range and by utilizing the Xync infrared tracking system both handheld and crane mounted cameras are supported for total freedom within the virtual set.
Extracting accurately the zoom and focus parameters from the camera lens is mandatory for generating accurate camera tracking data. ProSet is equipped with unique tools that specifically deal with lens distortion and aberration. ProSet supports both digital and analog lenses, box and eng, 4X3 or 16X9 aspect ratio.

Egripment, Mo-Sys, TechnoCrane, etc, enabling the user to rely on encoded cranes, manual/robotic pedestals and more.
Flexible production workflow
ProSet is designed to address the dynamic needs of today's production. It allows loading multiple sets, which can be switched instantly.
ProSet has two working modes: a design mode, in which rundowns are created, and a production mode in which the rundown items are sent to air.
ProSet integrates seamlessly with all types of newsroom systems allowing significant production workflow enhancements. ProSet’s integrated Newsroom Plugin enables direct contact with Orad’s rendering, allowing instant communication with newsroom systems such as ENPS, Dalet, OCTOPUS, Pebble Beach, etc.
Intelligent automation system integration
ProSet offers a flexible workflow application which enables integration with all commonly used automation systems such as Avid's Command and Grass Valley's Aurora in a studio environment.
Additionally, ProSet introduces the possibility of using a mixed manual/automated operation.
Stereo and interactive capabilities
Taking advantage of Orad’s Stereographics technology and Pattern Recognition tracking, broadcasters are able to produce stereo virtual studios. With its user friendly interface, the user can easily adjust key stereovision parameters controlling the depth, eye separation, and convergence.
ProSet supports interaction thereby enabling the television presenters to control and direct interactive elements in their virtual studio. The presenter can rotate, scale, move, drag, tap, hold, draw, highlight, etc virtual elements from their iPad, touch screen, virtual video walls, and more.

Connection to social networks
With ProSet, viewers at home can watch broadcasts on their TV, get additional information that was not displayed on TV on their iPad, and interact with the broadcaster by sending feedback via his iPhone/iPad or Twitter or Facebook. The viewer’s feedback is then displayed during the broadcast.
State of the art technology
Relying on HDVG+, Orad’s new generation of video graphics rendering platform, ProSet is equipped with unmatched rendering power that allows virtual sets to run in real-time.
Orad's HDVG+ platform supports both HD and SD formats. An internal video delay is provided as part of the system for monitoring video delay.
Orad’s bypass mechanism ensures continuous broadcast by switching automatically to an alternate auxiliary signal when the power is cut. When the power returns, a manual command is required to restore the system’s settings, enabling the user to verify that the system is running properly and that the graphics are loaded before taking back the signal. This ensures that the viewer does not see an empty blue/green screen.
To increase system reliability, ProSet runs on a Linux operating system and comes with a dual power supply ensuring that even in the event of power loss ProSet will continue its regular operation.
Incredible number of video insertions and video clips
ProSet provides 12 video insertions in SD mode or up to 6 video insertions when configured in HD. ProSet allows mapping video clips on any element within the virtual studio. Avi, MPEG, DV, DVC25, Quick Time and other commonly used formats are fully supported and multiple clips can be played at the same time. It is possible to mix between video streams and video clips, as well as mix HD and SD inputs, as all HD formats are supported. ProSet also now comes with 2 SATA drives of 500GB each, configured on RAID 0, which is particularly useful for accelerated playback speed for high bit rate clips. The SATA drives are also available for RAID 1 configurations where mirroring can be used for backup purposes.
